Materials & Care

 To preserve the quality, structure, and longevity of your Àánú Olúwa Denim Dress, follow these guidelines:

Washing

  • Hand wash in cold water or machine wash on a delicate cycle (cold setting only).

  • Use a mild, eco-friendly detergent free from bleach, optical brighteners, and harsh chemicals to protect the organic fibers.

  • Turn the dress inside out before washing to protect the indigo finish and contrast stitching.

  • Wash separately or with similar dark colors, as natural indigo denim may release dye in the first few washes.

Drying

  • Do not tumble dry. Heat can weaken organic cotton fibers and distort the pleated structure.

  • Gently reshape and hang on a padded hanger or lay flat on a clean towel to air dry away from direct sunlight (sun exposure can fade natural indigo).

Ironing & Steaming

  • For ironing use the medium heat setting.

  • For pleated sections, place a thin cloth (pressing cloth) between the iron and fabric to maintain sharpness without shine.

  • A handheld steamer can be used to refresh the dress and ease wrinkles without flattening pleats.

Storage

  • Store on a wide or padded hanger to maintain the dress’s shape.

  • Avoid overcrowding in the wardrobe to prevent creasing.

  • For long-term storage, use a breathable garment bag made of cotton (not plastic) to protect the organic fabric.

Extra Notes

  • Avoid frequent washing; spot-clean when possible to extend fabric life.

  • Organic cotton denim naturally softens with wear, adding character without losing structure.

  • As with all natural fibers, slight variations in texture and fading over time are part of the fabric’s beauty and authenticity.
